NBC commission two pilots from Ed Roe
Award-winning UK writer/director Ed Roe has been commissioned by US broadcast giant NBC/Universal to pen two pilots for the network. One is for a half-hour comedy which he will be producing with Conan O’Brien’s production company Conaco and in partnership with Everybody’s. The second pilot will be for a one-hour drama series.
Ed has been nominated for two BAFTA awards: in 2001 for drama series Teachers, and again in 2004 for the short film Call Register with Everybody’s co-founders Kit Hawkins and Adam Tudhope. Other credits include: Fairy Tales (2008), Rubbish (2007), The Weekend (2007), No Angels (2004/5) and The Best Man (2005).
On the commission Kit Hawkins comments: “This is a great opportunity to show the US the high quality of writing that the UK consistently produces. Working with Conaco is proving to be a real pleasure as is working with someone as inventive as Conan O’Brien.”
